According to open data from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the number of students in the country today is about 4 million. Of these, 315,000 are foreign citizens.
Applicants choose leading universities in various regions of Russia. Traditionally popular areas of training are medicine, engineering specialities and IT. Among other disciplines, foreigners prioritize economics, finance and natural sciences.

Moscow State University
Moscow State University is a public research university in Moscow, Russia. The university includes 15 research institutes, 43 faculties, more than 300 departments, and six branches. Alumni of the university include past leaders of the Soviet Union and other governments.

Tomsk State University
The National Research Tomsk State University, TSU is a public research university located in Tomsk, Russia. The university, which opened in 1888, was the first university in the Asian part of Russia and, in practice, the first Russian university East of the Volga.

Novosibirsk State University
Novosibirsk State University is a public research university located in Novosibirsk, Russia. The university was founded in 1958, on the principles of integration of education and science, early involvement of students with research activities and the engagement of leading scientists in its teaching programmes.
Higher Education System
At present, all universities in Cyprus are state universities, namely, the University of Cyprus, the Open University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology. Higher education in Cyprus is also provided by a number of State Higher Education Institutions, and an even greater number of Private Institutions of Higher Education, none of which has university status.

Special short-term courses of 2 to 8 weeks are organised by institutes in the fields of private business management or management of the public sector in a free market economy, and a number of scholarships are offered to citizens from selected countries to attend these short courses.
